What is Drowning?

World Health Organization defines it as the process of experiencing respiratory impairment from submersion or immersion in liquid.

Did you know drowning is the 3rd leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide? According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 360,000 people die annually from drowning. That’s over 9% of total global mortality.

Reasons to learn basic survival swimming skills.

There are several benefits in learning how to swim, especially, at an early age. It improves your physical and mental development and raises the chances of surviving a drowning.

Compared to traditional swimming, survival swimming requires a certified instructor that will not only educate your child but demonstrate proven methods.

Before you enroll your child, confirm an internationally recognized body accredits the organization. For example,  Lifesaving Africa Rescuers, based in Kenya is accredited by Kenya Lifesaving Federation (KLF). KLF is a member of the International Life Saving Federation (ILSF).

For an individual or organization to be certified, a course developed by ILS must be completed.
